ABOUT

Born in Kirby Muxloe, Leicestershire and a lifelong Leicester City fan. Graduating from East 15 Acting School 1982 then later graduating from University of Westminster School of Law in 2008 LLB (Hons). A professional actor for over 35 years working in theatre, tv, film, commercials. Including Alan Daniels  in Eastenders , Creepy guy - Blackbooks, Mickey Doolan (Irish Jockey) At The Races Sketch - The Day Today with Steve Coogan. A fringe theatre debut as a dashing Romeo Grove Theatre, Hammersmith. Theatre includes Citizens Theatre, Glasgow, Birmingham Rep, Theatre Royal Stratford East, Hull Truck (Westend run of Bouncers) as Ralf. The inaugural production of West Yorkshire Playhouse.

As an international theatre maker my solo work has taken me all over the UK, Ireland, Europe, the Balkans, Australia, Sydney Mardis Gras, Melbourne and Adelaide Fringe Festivals with three east coast tours including; Newcastle NSW, North Hamilton NSW, Goulburn, Melbourne, Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart Tasmania, and the Gold Coast.

The one thing that I have missed during lock down is packing my set and wheeling my stuff down to the local train station to play Leamington, Bath or embark on another hard road tour. The audience is what matters and it is always a great feeling when they let you know that they have had a fantastic evening at the theatre. There's nothing quite like it, making new friends and colleagues along the way. Long live the arts!

POPE HEAD ia a solo show about the  artist Francis Bacon. An enigma, a maverick, a controversial charismatic force of nature. Caught wearing his mother's underwear gazing into a large mirror. Banished by his military father from the family home in Ireland. Sent to Berlin with his fathers henchman. On to Paris where he was transfixed by Picasso. Bacon became a success as a designer of carpet rugs and furniture. Taking the surrealists by storm after The Times said he was; "...insufficiently surreal...".On to the Colony Club, champagne and a tragic love life.

The show looks at the life, art, psyche, sexuality, and philosophies of the great artist. We follow the struggle of the young artist who eventually finds that success and tragedy go hand in hand when you are determined to live life to the full.

“Roost is a superb character actor, one of the most inspired at the Fringe.” FringeReview ****    "Roost brings Bacon back to dangerous life!" Syke On Stage *****

WARHOL: BULLETT KARMA  is a powerful comedic drama, a witty portrayal of Andy Warhol pop art icon and focuses on the shooting by Valerie Solanas. The 'rough democracy' of the factory and all who lived, thrived and perished within and without the silver factory of ideas, concepts and "the challenge to change the concept of film as we knew it.." "..just get it done and let others decide if it's good or bad..". Come on down.

"If you are keen on taking a trip back in time to The Factory, Warhol: Bullet Karma is a great way to see Warhol and other important figures of the day. Check out this show for a lesson in pop culture history." - Tania Nicholas Adelaide Fringe 2019 ****

The shows both run for one hour which can then be followed by a Q&A with Garry. The shows appeal to theatre lovers, art lovers and anyone who believes that life should be lived and not just tolerated.
